Public Transport in Kuala Lumpur

Information on integrated public transport system under RapidKL. It includes the BUS and RAIL system. Unlimited travel is available on a day rate ticket as low as USD 0.30 (RM1.00) per day.There is also the KL Monorail transport system.

International travel is linked through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Connection to the City Centre (KL Central) Transport Hub is through the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit Lines.

KLIA Ekspress is the fastest way to travel to the city, as the journey only takes 28 minutes non-stop. The train is equipped with comfortable seats, digital entertainment, a wheelchair seat restraint, a wheelchair-friendly washroom, and luggage racks with a one-way fare of RM 35.00 (approx. USD 10).

 

Weather in Kuala Lumpur

The Petronas Twin Towers , KLCC

The 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers, is the world's tallest twin structure in its day. Located in the heart of the capital city, it contains a complex of office buildings, conference halls, a sprawling park and an upmarket shopping complex. Visiting the sky bridge is a great experience, a must stop over spot. It is open to visitors between 8.30am - 5.00pm from Tuesday to Sunday.

KL Tower

Soaring to 421m, and considered a main feature of the city skyline, the KL Tower is the one of the world's tallest communications tower. To experience the exhilarating view from the KL Tower, one can go to the 335-metre high observation deck on a high-speed lift, the city's eccentric architecture and lush greenery will be laid out from here. On top of the KL Tower is the Seri Angkasa a unique revolving restaurant where an international buffet spread can be enjoyed whilst watching a continuously revolving view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

The Bintang Walk

Bukit Bintang / Star Hill is one of the most hapenning streets in the city; full of restaurants and cafes of different styles catered for gourmet lovers. The many shopping centres along Bukit Bintang ensure that you will never run out of options. Most shops are opened from 11 am – 10 pm.

Petaling Street

Petaling Street, the centre of Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown, maintains much of its traditional atmosphere, particularly at night when vendors fan out their merchandise along the street. Food is plentiful here with many scrumptious varieties to choose from; some of the restaurants here have been in business for generations.

Central Market

The Central Market is Kuala Lumpur's architectural heritage with air-conditioned arts and crafts market with an annex building containing eateries. One can enjoy performances, demonstrations and hands-on batik painting and heritage activities like Chinese fortune-telling, Malay shadow puppet plays and Indian dances. One can also find many artists selling paintings and demonstration of their artistry on-site.

Batu Caves

It is a massive limestone hill, located 15km north of the city centre on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur; one of the most popular tourist attractions. This famous destination draws people from all over the world during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam. It consists of three big caves, including the main-temple cave which features ornate Hindu shrines. Scaling the 272 steps leading up to the main-temple cave is one of the highlights of a visit to Batu Caves. Nearby is the Ramayana Cave where evocative scenes of Indian epic myths are artistically painted along its walls. Also a popular spot for rock climbing.

INFORMATION ABOUT PENANG

Penang, "Pearl of the Orient" has been on the tourist route-map for decades, and is now fast-growing as an industrial centre. With the combined attractions of tourism and business, Penang airport handled more than 3.1 million passengers, with 39,265 aircraft movements in 2007. At the heart is Georgetown, a UNESCO World Heritage City. It is approximately 370 km away from Kuala Lumpur and could be conveniently connected through flight.

INFORMATION ON LANGKAWI

Langkawi consists of a group of 99 islands located off the north west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The biggest island is called Langkawi Island, approximately 30 km from Kuala Perlis, Perlis and 51 km from Kuala Kedah, Kedah. It is approximately 405 km away from Kuala Lumpur and could be connected using flight either through KLIA  (Malaysia Airlines), LCCT (Air Asia) or Subang Airport (Firefly). The island is a duty free island where goods such as perfumes, cigarattes, liquor, cosmetics, leather wear and confectionery are sold without duty imposed by the government. Langkawi Mall, Langkawi Fair Shopping Complex and Jetty Point Duty Free Complex are some of the shopping complexes that offer lots of goods for your selection.

Good beaches that you can explore and swim include Kok Beach, Cenang Beach, Tengah Beach and Burau Bay Beach which are all located at the west coast of the main island. Go round the island of Dayang Bunting and experience the cool breeze and breathtaking view of Langkawi.

If you are for snorkelling or diving, go to Pulau Payar Marine Park which is located 35km south of Langkawi. This island is an ideal place to enjoy the marine life and vegetation that are protected by the marine law of Malaysia until today. You can go to this island for a day trip

by boarding a speedboat from Kuah Jetty at Langkawi Island. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach this marine park. Admission fee of RM5/adult and RM2.50/child is charged. For further details on Langakawi visit Malaysia Vacation Guide.

INFORMATION ON MELAKA

Melaka is world-renown for her long history, historical sites, cultures and cuisines where she has charmed numerous visitors since her founding in the 15th. Century AD. Another UNESCO World Heritage City. More information from Malaysia Travel & Tourism Melaka. It is 144 km away from the city of Kuala Lumpur.
